Résumé

La catégorie du totalitarisme ne devrait pas être confondue avec les formes de tyrannie. Ne serait-ce pas l’État démocratique moderne qui a permis, en se libérant du théologico-politique ancien, de faire émerger l’État totalitaire, dans ses paradoxes internes même ? Préfiguré déjà dans l’écriture des utopies, celui-ci ci ne semble pourtant pas avoir réussi à s’installer réellement dans l’histoire. Mais ne serait-il pas, de nos jours, en train de se métamorphoser sous des formes post-étatiques en se capillarisant dans la collectivité sociale elle-même ?

Abstract

The category-“totalitarianism” ought not be confused with the various forms of tyranny. Is it not the modern democratic state that, by liberating itself from the theologico-political discourse of the ancients, has facilitated the emergence of the totalitarian state, even as the result of its own internal contradictions ? Although foreshadowed in utopian writings, it does not appear to have succeeded in establishing itself properly in history. However, is it not currently in the process of being transformed through “post-state” structures and osmosis into the community itself ?
